We Indians!!

Racism has always been a hot topic in the news. Cricketers like Gibbs have been caught on tape(audio) making racist comments. Racism is nothing new in football either. And how can we forget the recent Shilpa Shetty - Jade Goody Big Brother controversy? We Indians cry foul at the slightest slip of the tongue. Just today, I read that NRIs in USA are upset over president hopeful Barrack Obama insulting rival Hillary Clinton due to her connection with Indians.

One more thing currently in the news is Atlantis and Sunita Williams. I do hope that history does not repeat and Atlantis returns safely. But I do have one problem with the whole thing. All the news channels in India are projecting Sunita Williams as some kind of demi-god just because she is said to be of "Indian" origin. Come on!! If Sunita Williams has to be idolized like this, then why are we forgetting people like Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnaraine Chanderpaul, Nasser Hussain and Mark Ramprakash? They too are as Indian as Williams. And why only Sunita Williams? Why do we forget that there are six other people on board with her whose lives are in as much of danger as our very own "Indian" Sunita?

When Columbia crashed, the world was terribly shocked. Condolences were offered to Kalpana Chawla's family. She deserved every bit of it. I am sure that each reader of this post was very disturbed. I am also very sure that not many people even tried to find out the names of the other six people who lost their lives. How is this fair? Isn't this a form of racism? We try to crusade against racism but we fail to realize that it is not something that dropped down from the skies below. Till we change our individual style of thinking, a racism free world will remain a dream.

PS: Don't even bother to ask me the names of the seven Columbia astronauts. I know them already along with their nationalities. And why did I write about such a serious topic? Lets put it like this, desperate people take desperate measures.

This post made me realise that I am indeed a racist. Yes, I didn't try to find out the names of other members and neither do I idolize Ramnaresh Sarwan.

I agree with the fact that we hype NRI's a lot, and I had never felt that we were as racist as others.

firstly i think sunita and kalpana... deserve wat they r getting...at d same time d oders shouldn't be left back...
d thing is,ur highlighted or portrayed in d news wen u r exposed to d media...either for a contraversy or sumthing horribly good..... sunita wasn't in limelight until it was decided dat she wuld venture into d space...
but where was shilpa before reality show...? after dat inci...
they made a hue and cry abt d Gere kiss...if she hadn't won d reality show or wasn't portrayed...as victim of racism...wuld any mob be bothered abt gere kissing her...they wuld maybe wuld have been afeast only to usual rumour mongers...or would have chucked d
issue..taking rakhi sawant as an example...or wuld have been a popcorn news...
an individual like u or me,
in such an awkward society is enough to appre..one's insignificantly significant achievements...so no cure to indian minds !

What was he need for making such a huge hue and cry about Shilpa and Gere issue ? In the end, everyone even forgot for what cause they had been there !

About Sunita, come on ! She deserves it ! Not that we appreciate the other men who were with her ! But in one way, she has made us all proud !!!

I think racism should be delt differently and lets not connect irrelevent things please !!!

This is one awesome topic which makes each n everyone of us realise that we in fact are racists ourselves....Indian's n African's are supposed to be the worst affected by racism but this topic shows that we not only are affected but we are almost equal to those racists when we recognise only sum nri's...i hope i cud replace that word(racists) as im an indian too but readin this topic i guess that isnt possible...as far as im concerned ive also been a racist sumtimes in recognizing only certain nri's n jus so u ppl kno ....not all of the indians were bhind sunita n kalpana....sum of the indians dont care bout the nri's n are totally against them as they left india to serve for oder countries...even though i agree to such ppl on sum terms like indians after gettin educated in india shud serve in india n help make india a better place to live in n they shudnt go out of the country jus coz the other countries pay more...but i dont agree to sum points like the nri's shudnt be accepted back, etc...So wat i finally say is racism is a sick n dark part of everyones life...no matter wat they do they either are affected by it or they get involved in it...as long as ppl dont go for equality n as long as the rich get richer while the poor die of starvation or go into worse stages life will remain complicated with things like racism...n the term can never be deleted from the human's mind. According to me if we cant recognise all da nri's we gotta either be neutral to them....like we shud care bout them as much as we care about foreigners as atleast then we wudnt be passing racist comments...

Though sum ppl give out racist comments unknowingly , the effects of such comments affect them as well as the victim , so once we cleanse our attitude towards certain things in life n change our way of life by correcting our errs...like givin out such comments i think we can get wat every one says we want.....The REAL RACISM free world....
