We Indians Part 2: Keval Se Santhusht Hai
Sunday, October 28, 2007
Long time since my last post. Actually I started out on a couple of topics but never got the spark to finish them. I have called the post We Indians Part 2 not because it is a continuation of my previous racism post. This is just a title which I will be using when I find something that I just don't like in my fellow countrymen. So here it goes.
There's this new DishTV advertisement in which our very own King Khan does a Hrithik Roshan campaigning for a DTH connection. The ad is pretty cliched but one thing in the ad really caught me. Hum Log Keval Se Santhusht Hai. It is very true. All of us feel satisfied too soon. I personally feel that satisfaction is the end of the journey. Of course, I have also fallen prey to my satisfaction and wished I had not been so happy with the way things are going. I have noticed that complacency sets in when one is satisfied with what is done. People tend to take things lying down when such a thing happens. Without pushing ourselves to the limit, we will probably never know how good we are. We must settle for nothing less than the best. new superpower-in-the-making has produced many people who have just proven this fact. Appreciation for the person in the next post.

See, whatever you do, you should be happy with whatever you have. Of course, one must try to reach for the stars, but the primary reason for unhappiness and jealousy among humans is remaining frustrated over the things one couldn't achieve.

Yes.. on one side you can say that Indians are satisfied with all their acheivements and that they rest on their laurels....
BUT, without ppl pushing themselves to the limit... how do you account for the progress shown by India in various number of fields??

Nice post...
Also Reminds me of the "Lead-India" campaigns...
@yaju...
Ya But that doesn't mean that we all cannot Progress.According to you, we must still be a "developing" nation ?
One can reach for the stars only when one Acts.
We cannot sit and say "We're happy with all the negetiveness".
(thoguh we might have got used to it)...We must also Walk the Talk.

Priya,
Just that a person is smiling doesn't mean that she/he is happy. Happiness is a complex phoenomenan. I enjoy doing things in which I have to struggle more than the things in which I am a pro.
Yes, you are right, our nation is still developing, but you have to take into account that the biggest hinderance for this has been corruption, which is another case of not being satisfied with what you have.
To enjoy being a struggler and to be a perfectionist, there is difference between the two.

Priya, you are looking at things the other way around.
Actually, what I am saying is different from what you are saying..........
As I said, happiness is a complex phoenomena. Just that you aren't getting what I am saying, you feel that I am complicating the whole issue. And I am happy with what I said.

@Prarthana
I have made a generalization. If every person had the desire to do well, we would not have such economic inequality. The wealth gap would have been bridged a long time back.
Its is only a handful of people who are fighting and asking for more. They are the ones giving the impression that the country is not that bad.
@Yaju
Frustration comes ex-gratia with whatever you do but that frustration should push you forward to do better. Another man's success should light fire in you.
@Priya
Thanks
@Chirag
(My parents would be angry if they found out that I referred to "THE" Chirag Shetty by name)
Many countries are complacent I agree. But my post is aimed at Indians since not many people of complacent third world countries can read english
